I Have A Car Property Damage Claim And Have Lost The Title To My Car. What Can I Do? |
Feb 09, 2008 by tiffany l | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I'm hypothetical to sign over the title to my vehicle in order to receive compensation for my vehicle bereavement, but I have lost the title to my car. Besides replacing my title through a title agency what can I do? Is there perhaps a form that I can fill out with the security company without having to send for a new title?
It depends on how the old the car is. If it is older than 10 years you can well-grounded write them a bill of sale. The local DMV probably has forms for that. If it is newer than 10 years you will have to do an odometer disclosure and that has to be done on the dub. You would want to go directly through the DMV to order a replacement title, not some third party. Most states have an advance title process if the vehicle is in process of changing ownership and you have to comply with federal odometer laws. Thwart with your local DMV to see what their processes are.
Sometimes you can give power of attorney for the vehicle only to the insurance company when they give you the payment and then they rub in for the title and sign off for you. You should check on that too.
Good Luck!

Now Another Question: Claim The Car Damage...my Fault. Can I Change My Coverage Before To Lessen The $500 Ded? |
Jul 13, 2009 by Heather | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I don't have even the $500 to pay the duductible. I'm infuriating to keep the roof over my head after my layoff for gosh sake. I know it's after the fact and corrupt but my choices are very limited. If I could change my coverage then claim it later & pay $250 then then would this work out punter financially?
So you're asking if you got security today, would it cover an accident yesterday. No. Would it be okay to lie about it, and claim the accident happened tomorrow? No, it wouldn't, and adjusters are well expert to know such things.
By the way, since you started a new question rather than adding details to your old question, those who didn't see the first theme don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Should I File A Claim For Damage To My New Car? |
Sep 02, 2009 by CrazyRedGuard | Posted in Insurance & Registration
The unalloyed left side of my new car was damaged this afternoon by a hit-and-run truck driver. My neighbor says it'd expense me $3,000 - $4,000 to get the car repaired at a body shop. Do you guys think I should pay out of pocket, or I should rank a claim under the comprehensive coverage of my auto insurance policy? Would my annual premium go up a lot if I filed such a claim? I'd never been in an auto mistake before. Thanks.

How Long Does A Car Rental Agency Have To File A Damage Claim Against Renter? |
Mar 24, 2008 by Cindy G | Posted in Insurance & Registration
Hi I rented a car on my vacation almost two months ago, and I recently received a damage claim for Budget Hole a Car for a scratch they say I caused. I was never called about any problems. Can they notify me so late and still expect me to pay? I intuit uncomfortable with the fact it has been two months and I heard nothing, and this damage is totally over 500.00!!
if they did not note the damage on the understanding, when you returned the car your not responsible for any damage.
do you have your copy of the receipt?
did you return the car in person or was it one f those drop off they keys and up-anchor it deals?
if it was the latter you will be responsible.
it will come down to what you can prove.

If The Wind Blows Stuff Into Your Car How Do You Claim Damage? |
Jan 30, 2008 by puss of an angel | Posted in Insurance
It was quite windy last night. We have full coverage because it's under loan. Would it be under collaterial? If it was someone's trashcan what can we do?
If a neighbor's trashcan put a dent/damage into the side of the vehicle. The wind was really bad last night.
Did it damage your car? Like you have a tamed windshield, and stuff went into it? Or did you leave the window down and leaves blew in?
You can only claim damage if there are DAMAGES to your car. Leaves/grime inside the car doesn't count - all you need to do is take a vacuum to it.
If you have DAMAGE, you call your insurance company, and put in a Exhaustive claim. Your COMPREHENSIVE deductible will apply. The owner of the trash can is NOT responsible.
Collateral means, the bank gets to take your car back if you don't pay. It has nothing to do with the damage.

Can A Live-in Relative, Not Covered Under A Homeowners Policy, Take Out A Claim For Car Damage From The House? |
Jan 19, 2007 by John M | Posted in Insurance
I busy at my parent's house. My car was parked in their garage. A sewage drain(old house) busted and sent "things" over my car. It took the paint off the car. If my parents are going to file a claim, will it matter that I breathe in the house? Will they deny it because of that? I am not on the policy, so even though I'm related, I am legally like an outside themselves.
Anyone have additional advice on this issue? My parents don't want to pay and I don't want a car with diminished value. Thanks
Let me try to inaugurate this down into basic terminology. There are 2 aspects of a homeowners policy that you could seek coverage from.
The first part is a first soir claim. That means you are claiming damage as an insured. An example of this would be recovery of an insured personal effects after a theft in a house or damage to a roof after tree fell on it. Your personal belongings and diet would be covered under this.
The other aspect is a third party claim. This would be a claim against the insured (your parents) for their negligence or liability. An illustration would be an invited visitor slips and falls in their house on a torn carpeted stair. Your parents would be blameworthy for not up keeping the carpet and therefore the injured person would be entitled to a third party claim for his injury.
So the difficulty is where would your claim fall, if at all? Most policies are going to consider you an insured under the homeowners policy since you are a blood relevant and a resident of the home. I would think you would be covered under the homeowners policy as an insured which means you can not draw up a third party claim. You cannot make a third party claim because as an insured you cannot pursue a claim against yourself. For example - if I fall at my residence I cannot sue my husband, as we are both insureds. Taking it a step further if you were not to be considered an insured I would ask what did your parents do misuse, what would make them liable? In order for 3rd party coverage to pay out your parents had to do something wrong. They had to have knowledge of the drains were going to break.
So since third party is out that leaves a first party claim, which you would not be eligible for because cars are specifically excluded from first soir coverage.
The coverage you need to file a claim under is your comprehensive auto. I hope that makes drift.

Can I Claim For Damage I Did To My Car A Year Ago? |
Feb 22, 2007 by babs | Posted in Insurance & Registration
About a year ago I reversed my car into another and smashed my bumper (The other car was enjoyable!) No claim was made by the other party and I just taped my bumper up but now I want to get it fixed. Can I claim on my insurance even though it was a year ago?
The crush thing to do, is get a friend to hire a car, should be able to do this for about £40 a day.Sit in your car, and get them to drive into your car at about 90, nothing to immoderate. You can then claim against the hire company. You get a completely rebuilt face and body, plus stacks of compensation and never have to labour again.Best not to use your best friend in case they don't make it. I hope this helps. I do this every several of years.

Will The Premium Increase If I Ask My Car Insur. Comp. To Access How Much Damage Was Done But Not File A Claim |
Jul 11, 2006 by cj k | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I got into a car addition and I can swear the damages claimed by the other car owner was not caused by me. The driver of the car I hit told me that the damages were so penny-ante that she didnt mind not making an insurance claim as long as I paid for the damages. Her car is over 10 years old and covered in scratches, cracks and dents. She claimed that one of the cracks was caused by me. There is no suspicion that my car made contact with her car (maybe at about 3 mph) but there are absolutely no signs of any damage, even a slightest scratch, on my car. My question is whether or not it is a better view to contact my insurance company to have them access if the damages claimed was actually caused by myself. Also does having the indemnity company investigate the accident cause my premium to go up even if I don't make a claim?
The guaranty company is not in the business of assessing damages where they aren't a participant of the claim. Body shops do estimates, and many will do it for a fee, but, the other being is likely to tell them any or all of the damge should be included in the estimate.
Calling the insurance following to investigate the accident is equivalent to reporting the accident, and making a claim.
Depending on your aforesaid driving record and accident claims to the insurance company, they may not hike your rank, or much anyway if you've been pretty clean the last 5 years or so. You didn't call the police, and probably not an accident article with the state DMV, but most have a lower limit threshold on the requirement to file. It would be best if you grasp what that threshold is, and insist your assessment of the damages was less than the required amount to file the report.
I had a correspond to experience years ago. Scratched a car along it's side and offered to pay out of pocket. The guy ended up trying to pad the damages from perchance $200-300 to several thousand. I ended up going through my insurance company, and they totalled his car and gave him $500 for it. lol. The car was also old, and other damage, rust, anticyclone miles etc, so it was worth nearly nothing. The guy ended up getting what he deserved in trying to hose me.
Keep in ambivalent your policy will have a requirement that an accident must be reported promptly, and usually states something like 30 days.
