Why Would My Car Accident Lawyer Call Me Into His Office?

okay me and my boyfriend were in a car accident almost three years ago. my boyfriend has recently received two letters stating that they lawyer we have can no longer stand in for him. this was about three days ago. i received a phone call today asking me to come into his office 2morrow. what could this be about?

It could be for any troop of reasons:
-if you owe any payments, the lawyer may be requesting them. Or, by contrast, if the lawyer overlooked an aspect of your case when he took it (eg. antagonism of interest), they may actually refund the retainer fees you paid

-he could be re-instating your case if new details have emerged

-he could have other data or releases he needs you to see/review/sign

What I'd suggest is to call the lawyer's office to see if you can find out exactly why you are asked to deal with if the lawyer is no longer representing you; for all we know, the call may have just been erroneous.

Best Regards

If You Have An Accident In One State And Live In Another, Should You Get A Lawyer Where The Accident Occurred?

Specifically, the accident was in CT and I exist in NJ. Does the lawyer have to be licensed to practice in CT? Does anyone know any good CT in person injury lawyers?

In reality, no.

A lawyer, licensed in one state, can appear in another with the permission of the court. There is a specific term for the technique, but to be honest I'm drawing a blank right now. The court can deny the attorney's rewust, or want that the attorney associate (work with) an attorney licensed in that state.

There are pragmatic advanatges and disadvantages of using an out of assert attorney. If you are the defendant in a criminal matter, get a local attorney who can meet with you and travail with you directly to prepare your testimony. They will probably ( but not always) find an attorney to work with in the jurisdiction where the carton in venued.

If you are the defendant ina civil matter (i.e. you rear-ended someone and they are suing for damages, medical bills, etc.) your warranty company should provide you with a lawyer.

If you are the plaintiff in a civil case (i.e. someone rear-ended you and you are infuriating to get your bills paid), keep in mind that more than 3/4 of cases will settle before filing a lawsuit. If that happens, then it doesn't signification where your attorney is licensed, as they can handle the negotiations regardless.

If it proceeds to a lawsuit, having an attorney who lives lean towards you may be more convenient for you, but may be more expensive in the long run, if the attorney has to travel to CT for depositions, hearings, etc. or fee someone to cover hearings for him.

Working with a CT attorney may be harder/less conventient, but may net you a better conclusion in the long run by reducing costs which come out of your settlement.

Good luck!

How To Get More Money From A Car Accident With Out A Lawyer?

I had a car accident and a break my wrist. has been 3 month and they had to give me treatment and shots and it still hurst. the other party insurance only offered $8,000.00 for devastation i heard they give more. how can i debate that with out a lawyer?

Hiya:

Having handled mayhem claims for years...the one thing I can tell you is that attorneys are really nothing more than a middle man.

You can manoeuvre for yourself and here are some things to help you out.

First - ideally you should not be trying to settle UNLESS you are DONE treating!

Now that that's out of the way:

Distinguish how much your bills are.

Keep track of ALL of your mileage (to and from doctor, physical therapy...to go get medications refilled...EVERYthing)

If your doctor hasn't done so - ask for an deterioration rating when you are DONE treating(some doctors may not do this) - This will be an indicator of what - if any - permanency you may have. If you have any permanency - your set forth is worth more.

Keep track of all of your time off of work for appointments, etc.

Now....

If they've offered $8000...without expert more I'd say one of two things:

1 - your bills are included in that $8000 which means they are likely under $4000 or

2 - your bills are not included - in which proves the real offer is $8000 plus your bills (Unless you assigned a lein)

Does it number your mileage, medications, time off of work?

Can't really say without knowing more so it's hard to say if it is a tow-headed offer.

So, gets your ducks together, educate yourself and call the adjuster back with an outline to SUPPORT what you Improvise you should get paid. But - keep in mind - just because you want a million dollars...doesn't base you're going to get it.

Goodluck!

After An Auto Accident, Do I Need A Lawyer To Get A Settlement For Bodily Injury?

I was intricate in an auto accident where the other party was at fault, and the other parties ins co already admitted fault. I only had liability (never again) and my totalled car had a value of $13000. However, the insured was only covered for up to $10k, shorting me $3k. I have lassie scrapes and visible scarring on my head from the airbag hitting my glasses. I remarkably only want the value of my car, but if I have to go through lawyer to get property and bodily injury claims of over $25k, after lawyer fees, what am I left with? I homelessness to settle with the Ins Co directly.
Thank all of you for your help. I want to refrain from getting a lawyer at all costs, but I do only after whats fair to me - my life, which is in tact - and the value for my car. My liability insurance, which I had for less than a year, and full coverage for my whole driving portrayal before that, won't cover the balance. I don't want to fake anything with a lawyer or get some phone doctor to write my arm that reputedly fell off recently. I want my car back!! Is small claims my way? Won't that take forever? Can I plead with the adjuster?

I am so base you were in such a bad accident. I am glad, generally speaking, that you're ok. Let's explain something about attorneys---

1. They take 33% + administrative costs of any village you get. What they'd have to do is sue the owner/driver direct, because the insurance has paid their policy max for property harm. 10k is all they've got to pay ya. However, seeing as your car is worth 13k, you would have had to pay that to an attorney anyway, so while unfortunate-I wouldn't suggest hiring one for your agency damages as it wouldn't be worth anyone's time or money. Honestly, it's not likely the driver/P has assets if all he carries is 10k for property damage, anyway...

2. I believe the lowest state minimal for bodily injury is 10k. The insurance is going to check out how much in $$$ was paid out for your medical, and then cogitate on the punitive (work missed, loss of services, etc). Your doctors are all going to submit tabulation notes as to how long and to what degree of recovery you will make. Again, bear in mind that a game plan max is just that. Insurance co's won't disclose this amount readily, so you may want to ask if they feel their insured is at least aptly insured for your bills. If not---
3. Do you carry UIM(underinsured motorist, not to be confused with un-insured motorist). This is coverage for bodily abuse only, that you purchase thru YOUR insurer, that covers you if the other party isn't appropriately covered for the loss. Your bond will make sure the other carrier's max has been reached, and offer assistance. There is no deductible for this.
4. Speaking of which---if you lug collision, you can part with the deductible and your insurance can pay the difference in your vehicle damages. Talk to them about it, and let them be aware you've already signed a release and taken money for your car. But hey, losing 500 bucks or whatever is larger than 3k, and it's a non-fault loss so your premiums may not go up.
----------------
Hope all these options/explanations have helped. Commemorate, an attorney is in it to make money and they'll only take your case if they feel they have something to gain from it. Otherwise the job of the other insurance is to perch your claim as fairly as possible. Undercutting you would be unethical, and isn't likely to happen.

My Husband Was In A Car Accident, The Lawyer Said That We Are In The Arbitration Phase. What Does This Mean?

We have waited 18 months now, no step or settlement has been made by one of the responsible parties.

Arbitration is a means/time to attempt to settle your case out of court. Each side involved in the case presents their take exception to/arguments, evidence, etc. to a mutually choosen or assigned arbitrator, (impartial soir.) The case is argued until a decision/settlement is reached, (all parties agree,) or until it is indisputable a settlement cannot be reached.

Where Were the Alarms on Hasan?

In record's Hall of Infamy, Maj. Nadil Malik Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter, has earned a momentous place, even among the mass killers.

The Washington Post's Colby King made the subject: This man didn't shoot people at random, nor did he seem to have a grudge against any particular person.

No, he chance people he had been sent to help , which must be the worst of all crimes.

It is as if a teacher shot at students, or a doctor strangled patients.

Now the scrutiny and the debate have begun. Was he a religious extremist, or crazy, or a little bit of both?

As King well-known, he had enough sense to keep quiet until he could hire a lawyer, and the answers to those questions will be interesting to know.

But the evident questions remain the more important ones: Why didn't someone notice him before 13 people died?

I have listened carefully all week as individual military and government spokesmen have counseled we can not rush to judgment,
