 My sister is a practicing attorney in OH. I would call her. She told me there's this internet laundry list of attorneys that other attorneys subscribe to, starts with an *M*, can't remember, but other attorneys can look up attorneys on it. I have in mind of it as the AM Best Rating for attorneys.
So, I'd go to someone I know, and ask them for a professional referral.

Can My Auto Accident Attorney Really Do This? |

I was in a car accident in Aug, 2004.
My attourney completed the first determination with the at-fault driver's insurance company for $25,000. He advised me to take a lesser ration and allow him to pay a greater amount toward medical bills and get them settled. He explained that, when we filed a UIM be entitled to with my insurance company (having medical bills settled), that I would get the entire amount, less his 33 1/3% from the patronize claim.
I ended up with far less than he told me to expect from the first claim (and he still has 2,400 in a trust lolly) but at the completion of the UIM claim, he cut me a check for "proceeds pursuant to final disbursement averral".
We were both thrilled with the final outcome.
He is now contacting me telling me that medical bills have not been settled after all (his secretary's fluff amongst also stating that it's my fault as well).
He tells me that I need to pay back money to the firm (and the figures have assorted from $2,000 to $20,000).
Help!

If so read it (all of it) Tell him you want a copy of all the paper work involved with the proves. Pay outs should have been verified right after the outcome. These figures do NOT change.Tell him you are universal to discuss the variances from the settlement with another Attorney.My guess is they will change again this time in your favor. I hired an attorney for an auto accident I was in and he has done nothing in 3 months can I get another without having to pay him for nothing?
Yes. Let the attorney cognizant of he is fired and that you want the file. However, your assumption that he has done nothing may be wrong. Attorneys obtain and reassessment records and have informal contacts with insurers and all sorts of things without you being aware of it. If the attorney has indeed worked on the suitcase and then is fired, he may be entitled to a reasonable fee for his work. Instead of just firing the personally, consider setting an appointment for a status conference.

What Role Does An Attorney Play In An Auto Accident In Which All The Parties Are Covered By Insurance? |

My strife was involved in a multi-vehicle accident started by another driver in which four cars were totaled and some people were injured. It appears that everyone is covered by guaranty. If insurance is covering the situation, why would one of the drivers retain an attorney to sue the other drivers?
They're not suing, they're just now representing the person involved and presenting the claim. The attorney is the only person with whom the claim can be discussed on behalf of that yourselves. He gathers all the medical documentation, presents it to the insurance company, negotiates and settles the upon, gets the check, takes 1/3 of it, pays the rest to the doctors and his patron and then he's done. If there is a suit he does more, but it doesn't sound like it's in litigation.

Can I Negotiate With My Auto Accident Attorney? |

I have talked to three attorneys. They all crave 33.3 percent and they get their cut up front on any settlement. Then the attorney pays off all the contingency medical services that he has sent me to. Then I get what is fist. All three have some form of this. They are all very similar. I would like it to work like this, which I think is a lot more fair. I get a sure percentage of the settlement, like 40 percent, period. The he can take 60 percent and divy it up any way he wants.. Do you have in mind I can find an attorney that will bite.?
