Is It Right For An Insurance Company To Ask For Your Financial Details When Making A Claim? |
Nov 09, 2008 by searay | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I had a boat stolen recently and am in the midway of making an insurance claim. They have assigned a private investigator to the case and he has asked to see all my banking details. Are they allowed to do this? It's classified information that i would rather not disclose. Thanks in advance.
Yes, they have the upright to do this. It is part of their investigation. They will first determine if you had anything to do with the "theft" of the boat. If you are not involved, then they will advance the probe. The reason they are doing this is because it wouldn't be the first time someone made their boat disappear to get out from under it. Not saying you are guilty, by the skin of one's teeth pointing out that these are often insurance fraud cases.

Do I Need To Declare Claims From Unrelated Policies On An Insurance Application? |
Apr 12, 2009 by Bob | Posted in Boats & Boating
I have a claim up in the air on one boat insurance policy and am about to renew a policy for a different boat. The renewal asks "Is there a Claim till such time as?" and "Provide details of previous claims and/or unrepaired damages." It seems to me this is asking only about the boat covered by this ways. Do I need to declare the claim related to the other boat not on this policy?
You are precise. thr question refers to the policy and different boat; not the one with the pending claim.

Is It Prudent To Change Insurance Agents During A Claim? |
Apr 01, 2008 by dolphinite_bottom | Posted in Insurance
I am currently innvolved in a property claim process and the insurance agent/agency is not responsive or supportive. What would be the effects to my current claim if I were to switch to a unique/local agency.
I have no issues with the insurance company as yet and don't expect, nor wish to.
I need to add burden coverage to my boat for the summer and I would prefer to work with someone else in the future.
Thank all of you for your great input no matter what my previous questions today.
Dolphinite
As elongated we you were covered on the date of loss...it should not make any difference at all...
A different agency - not ensemble shouldn't make any difference at all...but the agent doesn't always have alot of PULL when it comes to swaying an adjustor to assistants you.
You may switch & then be disappointed that the new agent doesn't have any favors either

Should I Hire A Lawyer To Handle My Insurance Claim? |
Oct 10, 2006 by stephaniencurtis | Posted in Insurance
my domicile burnt to the ground a week and a half ago, I was out of town and we lost everything we owned except some clothing. The fire marshal came out that non-stop and told me that it was suspicious but the cause would probably never be determined. When I went in to see the insurance company they treated me like some sympathetic of criminal, here I am having lost everything that I own. By the time I left I was just beside myself, they wanted to dig into every face of my life, they wanted me to go to the gambling boat and get a print out of how much money I have spent there. And they just kept saying, do you see why this doesn't look paraphernalia for you!!! Can they make me do things like that? They twisted around everything I said, THEN to top it off, he said that it would take a while to soothe my claim becuase it was suspicious, when asked how long, he said, " well it just depends on how much you wind in" Like if I don't turn in all my personal property they will pay the claim!!
The fire marshall has ruled me out unconditionally and the insurance company knows this, and the reason I am talking about a lawyer is to protect myself, not because they where "ill-tempered" to me. I just feel like they are on some kind of witch hunt so they don't have to think nothing of the claim. They act like it is awful if I ask for anything, and I am just not sure of my rights, what I have to disclose to them (like the gambiling), I only weary $120 there, but it is just the whole point that thye can demand things and I have to jump through hoops, as does my kinsmen as they have all been interigated too.
Rather than hiring a member of the bar, who will likely take 40%, look at hiring a public adjuster, who will probably take 10-15%.
But yes, if the as a gift burned to the ground, and the fire report says suspected arson, the insurance company WILL take a not enough time to investigate. Especially if they think they can pin something on you.
Now, gambling receipts, how is THAT related to the fire reduction?? What they are ACTUALLY trying to do, is get evidence to convict you. I don't see how it's relevant. Have them put their request in script! You need to start dealing with them IN WRITING, and keep a paper trail.
As far as the "how much you bend in" portion of it, what bunk! You have a total loss! The policy should be paying out, well, the limit for the construction, and you need to list as much as you can as far as the contents go. Get friends and relatives who might have taken pictures, or video recordings, of the exclusive of the house, to substantiate what was there.
Meanwhile, if you have a standard homeowners policy, you DO have "additional living expenses", and I would Marketability an advance on that to pay for the hotel, etc, OR, let the insurance company park a trailer on the lot for you to live in while they straighten this out.
Regardless, even if it IS arson, and even if YOU lit the fire (I'm not accusing you!!) the insurance friends STILL has to pay the mortgagee, if you have a mortgagee. So remind them of that, and get them to pay off the loan IMMEDIATELY. THat will keep you from having to make mortgage payments.
And again, a general adjuster will be cheaper than an attorney, but your agent should be going to bat for you on this, also!! And he's ALREADY been paid to domestics you!

My Mobile Phone Insurance Claim Failed. Help? |
Oct 17, 2008 by Tommy F | Posted in Mobile Phones & Plans
Hi Guys,
I've even-handed received the following email from my phone insurance company regarding a claim I made last month : -
_____________________________________________________________
Sweetie-pie Mr Foster
Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding your current claim
status.
I have now reviewed the details with comparison to the claim that you
submitted on 21st September 2008. However I am unable to accept this as an
appeal as you have not addressed all the go reason of your original
claim.
Your claim was unsuccessful due to the following reasons:
1. Incorrect Bar Dates
2. Passing not reported to police
Once you have addressed all the reasons above, and we are in receipt of
the requested information we will pick up processing your appeal.
We will endeavour to process your claim as soon as possible.
_____________________________________________________________
I have since spoken to my phone insurance body to find out about the incorrect bar dates. Basically my IMEI numbers did not match when my insurance company called my network provider but this is becuase this is my faulty handset and they still have the details from my first phone so this is not a problem. My only problem is the second point. I was on leave of absence (America) when I lost my phone and I lost it overboard on a boat. I didnt call the police because I knew the phone would be damaged and irretraceable unless your a inscrutable sea diver??
Can anybody help me with my appeal? Do I stand a good chance of sweet?
Hope you can help.
(in scribble literary works - if you email themn they'll fob you off again)
XYZ Insurance Company
Claim Number ...
Dear Sirs
COMPLAINT
I have received an email from your claims activity be contingent. They have declined to pay for a replacement phone after mine was lost overboard on a boat trip in America.
The bar dates did not resemble because my network provider gave you one from a previous phone.
The loss was not reported to the control because there was no criminal involvement and, after falling into salt water, the phone would not have been repairable had it been found.
Your body's refusal to pay my claim is unreasonable, illegal and in breach of the terms and conditions of my contract. If I do not earn payment within 14 days, I will seek enforcement through your regulator.
Yours failthfully

Sister's Boyfriend Drove His Boat Up An Embankment. She Got Hurt. Can She Make A Claim Against His Insur. Co. |
Jun 01, 2007 by DW | Posted in Insurance & Registration
She's the only one who got scarred. Broken ankle and will be off work for at least 6 weeks.
1. Can she make a claim against his insurance co for lost wages, medical, etc.?
2. She has medial insurance, can she get any description of medical reimbursement or not use her insurance at all.?
3. She is mostly worried about the lost wages, not trying to take her boyfriend to the cleaners or turn out on insurance. He was driving, but she took the rap and said she was driving (he was drinking she wasn't). will that devise a difference since she now was "supposedly" driving the boat? There was a police report.
4. Who calls his insurance crowd, does she get the information and make a claim or should he call and report it.
Any other information would be appreciated.
1. His boat, she needs to organize under his.
2. Since she said she was driving, it will go on her record.
3. If his insurance has medical, it will cover it, if not go under her private medical
4. he should call since it is his insurance. but she can call as well.

Truck Not In Our Name, But We Make All The Payments And Have Our Own Insurance. Can We Claim It? |
Oct 15, 2009 by April | Posted in Insurance & Registration
My tranquillity's truck is in his parent's names. This made more sense at the time since he got the truck when he graduated consequential school. He (and now we) have made all the payments on the truck and the truck is insured under our insurance policy. We have asked several times to have the business put into mine or my husband's name. His mother has refused (his dad doesn't really care, but wants to keep her felicitous). Now, his mom lords that title over us saying that she could take that truck at any time, that we've been paying for forever. There is only about $6000 sinistral on the truck and we have considered paying it off, but that wouldn't solve the problem of her having the headline. This makes us very nervous because if she were to "repossess" the truck, we would have only one vehicle to get us both to business and to class(I'm finishing up a degree and he's going back to school). Is there anything we can do? There is no possibility of getting her to unique it over to him and when it's paid off she will be mailed the title and we'll be in the same boat (actually, worse, since the loan comes to readiness at the same time that her other son turns 16, hmm...) Anyway, help?
If you can test you have been making payments then you could sue her but as long as there is an outstanding loan and she co-signed it she has every right to cling the title particularly if it's in her name and not his. Afterall her credit is on the line if you default on the $6000. Once it's paid off if she still refuses to give up the designate then you can go to court and sue her (only a good idea if you want to be enemies for the rest of your life.)

How Much Do Insurance Adjusters Cost? |
Dec 21, 2007 by sestud69 | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I am fighting with my insurance band regarding fixing my motor on my boat. The insurance company already denied my claim. So now, I asked them for a second theory and was told by the claims representative that I would have to pay for the second adjuster to come out. However, her boss did not squeak me that I would have to pay out of my pocket for a second adjuster to come out and look at my boat. So I was wondering how much will it (might) cost me to have the tick adjuster to come out.
I can't fix the motor on my own. I am not mechanically inclined plus a new motor would expenditure $8000 and then I still have 28 months left to finance the boat. Someone suggested that I sell the motorless boat to the marina that is currently shelter it.
The insurance company said that the "risers" are worn. Risers only last 5-8 years. However, my marina said that the risers were elegant. But water was getting into the engine which caused a loud knocking noise. The motor was merely waiting for break down. Travelers said that risers are not covered under my policy. - Positiveness me, I am trying to cut my losses and I am trying to apply for a loan to pay the boat out right from the finance New Zealand. I don't want to have the boat repo becuase it will ruin my credit. My family is of absolute no better and 2 of my older brothers are wealthy and wont lend me a dime!
I did hit a rock in August 2002 would that have made a inequality?
You didn't say what happened to the motor. That would give us a imply if there is any gray area in the claim that would make it worth your while to hire an outside adjuster (not united with your company). You should have gotten a letter explaining the reason for the denial & citing the strategy wording.
A few hundred dollars would be reasonable, sometimes they take a % of the claim, depending, you would have to look in the phone book under patrons adjusters & start calling to find out. But, if they are going to say "no way, that is not covered" then it is a become enervated of your money to hire them. So, the details would be needed.

How Long Does It Take For An Auto Insurance Company To Investigate And Claim Liability? |
Apr 06, 2009 by TAGR | Posted in Insurance & Registration
My daughter was in a car calamity on Feb. 25. She was traveling straight in the southbound lane, when a rushing man in the northbound lane turned leftist in front of her. The driver admitted that he was upset because he had been following a school bus for the last 20 minutes and his also pen-friend, whom he was trying to pick up, was late for work. He stated that when he saw the driveway that he cut from behind the bus to turn in then realized from the skidding that he turned in front of a car. His insurance Pty is still investigating and waiting for pics of the scene and his friends statement. I was told by his insurance callers (USAA) that witnesses not listed on the police report could not be used, but his friend is not on the policemen report and they are waiting for her statement. NC State Highway Patrol responded to the about and the driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way. The driver was apologetic and admitted several times around a issue of people that he must have blanked out or was daydreaming from the frustration of the school bus. USAA is saying that they necessary to make sure that my daughter was not 1% at fault, meaning speeding perhaps. The administrator estimated her speed at impact at around 40 mph and the speed limit is 55mph. She hit the drivers back weaken of his Jeep Wrangler (small truck) causing him to rest in a small trench or ditch ion the side of the attempted driveway. The front rider side above the front tire and the front by the headlight is damaged on her car. She tried to avoid him, protect her younger sister (13) and circumvent veering to much left in fear of hitting the school bus. My girls were terrified when I arrived 15 minutes after the non-essential. USAA stated that she may have had time to instanly stop, but she tried everything that she could do. In my opinion, she should have never been put into that post. USAA is saying that points of contact are off, but my insurance agent said that she hit the back tire because a Jeep Wrangler is only 5 ft great and he was not towing a boat or driving a common sized vehicle. Plus the driver admitted to pushing down on the accelerator when he realized what was taking place. I just need to have someones advice on this matter before hiring a lawyer. Sometimes non-standard due to you.
Plus I had to pay 450.00 for towing and storage because the agent (whom I had yet to talk to) wrote a culture stating that they would only cover charges if they accept liability up to March 4. USAA did not send an adjuster to the towing yard until Parade 9. I call and call the agent will not return my calls, so I only talk to other USAA reps.
Above to say there is no definitive time line, the facts seem pretty straight forward. I would talk to the adjuster at your insurance business. Liability is a matter for your insurance company to dispute with the other insurance company. There are fault determining rules the adjuster will use to help is deciding who is at fault.
This one seems pretty clear cut, I don't think a lawyer needs to get knotty, if you adjuster is dragging their feet ask for a supervisor.
Pay the towing and storage if you can, to avoid any cancelling impact on your credit, your insurance company will reimburse you.
But talk to the agent it could be that they are just waiting for some finer details, it is not uncommon for a themselves to say the events happened one way to later find out it was a completely different story.
If the agent isn't returning your calls, call and ask for a chief, or write a letter.

How Can I Claim My Money Back For Flight Tickets Bought From Alitalia Who May Go Bust Completely This Week? |
Sep 23, 2008 by Mongrawl | Posted in Air Travel
• We paid for the away tickets by debit card not credit card.
• I have travel insurance with 'insure and go' not in the cards it'll cover.
• How can Alitalia airlines pay back the money to you when they're already bankrupt?
• Anyone is/was in the same boat as me?
• Airline tickets are promotional tickets
• booked later on via Alitalia website
Okay, lets see if I can disburden up some of the confusion..
1> You paid with a debit card, which eliminates some but not ALL protections. You will still be able to put in for a credit back IF the airline folds, but unlike a CC you don't get a provisional credit AND there is no guarantee of payment.
2> As far as roam insurance, it depends on if the airline was on that insurance companies exclusion list prior to your policy toe-hold. Insurance companies maintain a list of expected to fail airlines and you are not covered if the airline is on that record when you bought the policy. If not, you will be covered. (And as a good rule of thumb, if travelling insurance companies have started to blacklist a company, its probably a good idea to sidestep that airline.)
3> ATOL does not apply most likely, unless you booked in the UK, but even then most command airline only purchases are not covered.
4> If Alitalia folds, you will be very low on the unsecured creditors shopping list. This means that after all major debts are paid, if they are, unsecured creditors have a chance of possibly seeing a few bucks. Note that if you get a debit card refund, they become the creditor not you.
5> The factually that they are promo tickets has no bearing on the situation.
