What Is Useful To Have In A Building And Contents Insurance And Making Claim Without Impacting My Premium? |
Question by prabo | Posted in Other - Home & Garden
What is a must for accessible and contents as there are so many options. I also want to make sure I dont get stung so much. We have kids so could agency damage.
Also making claims for roofing and guttering, is that covered.
| Answer: It's the thousand of claims that makes your rates go up. If you make a few claims over a few years it shouldn't go up. But if you go a $150 claim for this broken door, and $200 for the broken coffee table, etc. enumerate on it going up. It's supposed to be used for higher priced losses. Like someone breaking into your bordello and cuts all the leather furniture in your living room and it's going to take $3000 to renew. |

Can I Claim From The Building Insurance? |
Question by Traci | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Never since buying my 1st assets (in 1999) have I ever claimed off the insurance.
However my house built 1950-60 has concrete finlok gutters, known to sooner fail.
My front 1 did, and I have paid £250 to get it lined with aluminium.
My Q is, do you think I can claim off the building insurance.
Nothing inside was ruined, but there is a shot or 2 in my sons built in cupboard in his room (the corner where the leak was) and it was very damp in there, so obv it effected the clan.
So not only was it £250 for the lining, I will get the crack sorted, and also there is a roof tile in this corner that needs relaceing.
can I claim?
Answer: A. Depends on if this is covered by your management.
B. What amount is your deductible? You must subtract that from total costs. If this is covered, that amount is all you will get. |

In A Condo, Will Common Insurance Except A Claim For A Couple Leaky Windows? |
Question by NG | Posted in Renting & Real Estate
I upstanding found out that a couple of the windows in my first floor duplex condo are leaking. Unfortunately, due to the cover market, the developer is bankrupt. However, we do have common insurance on the building. Can I make a claim with the common insurance?
Answer: habitually the common insurance covers items that are used by multiple units. For example, a roof would be covered if that roof covered more than one module (like a building that had 3 units in it). Windows would be covered if they were windows that opened to a frequent area (hallway that is used to get to each unit).
Generally items that are used by only 1 portion are covered under that individual units insurance policy. In this case any damage caused by the leaking windows would be covered but not the windows themselves. That is up to the builder to fix up (except he is bankrupt).

Insurance Claim For Damages Due To Poor Maintenance Of Building.? |
Question by babs48 | Posted in Renting & Real Estate
Last year I bought a first shock flat with a share of the freehold in a mid-terraced house.
The building showed signs of some lengthy standing cracks including a cracked lintel above my bay windows. My home client's survey report reflected this.
Now after twelve months we have finally agreed to get the building repaired in our last congress.
A few days ago rain water came through the ceiling and has damaged my laminated flooring.
As the possessions was not adequately maintained and that I am also partly responsible for its maintenance, as a shared freeholder, can I clear out a claim for the damages to my flat?
In my defence I can say that I have consistently approached the other freeholders to get the property repaired.
I have also bought a tarpaulin to counterbalance the bay in order to protect the building from any further damage. Unfortunately, the owners above, a fellow director in the circumscribed company, have repeatedly ignored my requests to do so.
Who pays for my loss?
| Answer: I accept that you have a difficult task to claim your cost for poor maintenance against the insurance company and I am sure that if you infer from your policy you will see that the insurance will not pay for wear and tear or poor work manship. On the other hand, your superb option is to share the cost with your fellow director, and if necessary take him to court. I recognize he will not talk to you again, but business and friendship are two separate issues. Good Luck! |

Can I Claim On Insurance For A Leaking Boiler What Has Made All The Back Side Of The House Damp? And A.....? |
Question by bluetopaz | Posted in Insurance
come out in the bedroom ceiling which has made a right mess of the carpet? and the leak of the boiler the Nautical galley will need redecorating and to be dried out....
we have both contence / building insurance....
Answer: Effective you can claim. Is it covered? Who knows, we haven't read your policy.
Many, many policies have an exclusion for sprinkle damage over a period of time. That's because you're expected to replace that leaking boiler, which superficially is still leaking. You can't just let it keep leaking and get a new house/ceiling/carpet every six months on the insurance South African private limited company.
You have a duty to mitigate the loss - which means, replace that leaking boiler the number two you find out about it.
Your agent will be able to give you a definite answer. |

Any Ideas On How I Can Register My Building Company As A Prefered Contractor To Insurance Companies? |
Question by Nick T | Posted in Small Business
im taxing to register my uk building company with insurance companies to carry out there repair claims, but am not sure how to go about contacting anybody or what the procedures are?
I have all the criteria needed insurance polices, fmb+constructionline registered. financially immutable. And trading for over thirty years.
I just need a foot in the door but don't certain how?
Answer: As all nobility things said, try the direct approach.
However it may be worth trying other places too. For prototype, I've been suffering building problems recently, and Zurich passed the work to Cunningham Lindsay to design manage, and Morgan Ashurst did the actual building and decorating work. Both these firms have governmental coverage; they probably get a guaranteed flow of work from the insurers in return for a opportune hourly rate.
So could be it is guys like this you need to identify and work with as well. As they might be the ones who very control who does the insurance jobs!
Good luck! |

I Have A Leasehold Flat And The Freeholder Is Supposed To Be Paying For The Building Insurance? |
Question by Charlene | Posted in Insurance
I don't propose b assess they have and it is written in my lease. Do I have a claim and can I sue them? I need to claim because my dishwasher leaks and has damaged my laminate flooring. Thanks
I called the on/contents insurance people and they say it is building insurance.
mbrcatz7 - how can it be "neglect" when you can't see its been leaking. If I knew it leaked I would have arranged it already!!!
Answer: Your freeholder should've told you there was a let slip - so you could get it repaired....if the dishwasher is yours & you're responsible..
unless it is THEIR dishwasher - then they should've repaired it before it damaged your fell.
SO EITHER WAY - Yes - sue away! They should contact you of any repairs that need to be done before it causes more damage! |

A Car Crash Into My Business, How Do I Get Maximum Insurance Claim? |
Question by alan2dylan | Posted in Insurance & Registration
A lot of my makings broke, the building is taking time to fix and i have to close my business for a week already. What i need to do?
| Answer: Your trade insurance should be covering stock, loss of business income, etc, and your commercial building insurance should be covering mar to the building. Your insurer(s) have rights of subrogation. You do not sue the driver, the insurance company does. Hopefully you have 1 insurer, not 2, to contract with. Of course, if your business is on rented premises, then the policy of the landlord takes direction of the building damage, and your insurer takes car of the business claims, including any improvements you have made to the commerce premises. |
