Advice About Filing A Household Insurance Claim For Car Break In

Last week we received a call prehistoric in the morning from my husband's corporate card stating that they suspected fraud. At that all together my husband noticed his wallet was not in the house and he figured he must of dropped it somewhere. Well, a couple days later I was looking for a few items that I comprehend were in my car and they are missing. I then start to really look and find that several items are gone - Passport, CDs, iPod, Rumpus Cancelling Headphones, my watch, sunglasses, my son's perscription glasses, etc. (I know we are silent for having this in the various compartments in my car, none were out in the open)...However, we filed a police story and find out that we are 8th person in our neighborhood to report a break in. I called my insurance company and was told that it would be covered under our household protocol but then was told that they had a lot of limits on the $ amount for specific equipment (electronics, household paperwork like my passport). I have gone through my action and no where can I find these limits. Is this pretty typical? Please, if you have any advice we would appreciate it. It has been an awful week dealing with shutting down confidence in cards, etc. we don't want another headache....

Every homeowners protocol except one, that I've ever seen, has had "special limits of coverage". Pinch your policy, go to Property, Section I perils insured against, Coverage C, personal peculiarity, Special Limits of Liability: $200 cash, $1,000 securities, $1,000 for watercraft & trailers, $1,000 for jewelry & watches (damage by theft), $1,000 for electronic apparatus. Many policies limit the coverage for cd's to $100 or $250.

Paperwork isn't covered for "set someone back to replace", but "value of the media" or blank manuscript. Electronics that are powered by your car, ONLY, are likely flat out excluded.

And of course, this is all subject to your chattels deductible. I know, bad news, on top of being violated. Just what you need.

Household Contents Insurance And Making An Early Claim?

I had my bordello burgled last night and have had most of my valuable belongings stolen. I am a bit worried about making an insurance claim. The think for this being that I literally only took out contents insurance last Friday. So will making a claim so early into the policy have any complications?
I unusually need to replace what has been taken but am worried about potentially being investigated for fraud or something due to making a claim so shortly.

You will have to placard an affidavit, very likely notarized. There will be an investigation, there always is in cases where claims are made right after a rule is effective. If the time and date of the burglary are confirmed by the police, and you are honest and uninhibited with the insurance investigator (likely an independent specialist, not a company employee), your only problem should be the wait caused by the investigation.

Misted Double Glazing - Can I Claim On Standard Household Insurance?

I have had problems with a misted sealed element and have only noticed when I have taken the voile curtain down to wash. The curtain is mouldy at the bottom and there are prone cloudy marks on the inside of the double glazing making it look like my windows are ribald.
Does anyone know if I could make a valid claim on household insurance to get the sealed unit replaced?
yep, the misting is on the middle- between the panes. They are 1990's windows so probably are at the end of their life.

The homeowners ways only covers glass for breakage. There is a specific provision in the insurance contract that describes the coverage.

Does Your Insurance Adjuster Have The Right To Ask For 3 Years Proof Of Household Income When You Have A Claim

We were out of municipality for a couple of months when we returned the house was ransacked and several expensive things were stolen.(tv, all ground vehicles, lawn mower). When the adjuster came he didnt even looked at the demolished windows or any of the other damage. He said there might be a clause in policy for house unoccupied for more than 30 days. He came back 1 1/2 wks later saying there wasnt a clause like that. He took pics and now is requesting are shore up of household income for the past 3 yrs. We do have another claim for wind and water damage that occured while we were gone. They said it has to be a seperate claim even though we told them about all of it at the same heretofore. I dont think are income should have anything to do with it. Its just not there business, really. Please let me know if its authorized and if I have to let them know.

Yes I am an insurance adjsuter and the senses why we DO have the right to ask for that information is so we can see if it may be a case of fraud. We often find out after researching the financial records of individuals that they were having hard cash troubles so they hatched a plan and tried to turn it into us to help get themselevs out of indebtedness. You have nothing to fear from sharing your information if you have been honest with us.

If you do not have Accidental Damage cover on contents then, sorry, it's not covered.

I lived in an apartment for most of last year. I also had a roommate who was not listed on the sublease and only paid a small portion of the rent. This roommate did not contribute to the utilities or to the nutriment supply. I also held and paid the insurance policy. I have receipts and other eveidence to prove that I maintained the tenancy and to prove that someone was living with me for at least six months. Is It Worth Claiming For A New Laptop On Home Insurance?

I dropped my laptop and the cover broke. I was wondering if anyone had claimed for a new one on household insurance before, and if so, was it worth it? Did it make a huge difference to your sparse the next year?
I rang the Endsleigh, insurance company. They said they couldn't tell me what alteration it would make to my premium until after the claim had gone through. Not even an estimate.

All insurers operating in the UK are liable to suffer to FSA regulation and are all reputable. Basically your household policy may or may not cover this contingency. If you have effected Casual Damage cover on Contents or have their All Risks extension for personal valuables then it will be covered. Quite the policy will be subject to an excess which will make you responsible for the first so much (£50 maybe) of the harm. If you have been with the same insurer for some time and this is your first claim I would not expect it to impact your renewal premium at all - especially if the value of the laptop is less that one year's in short supply.

It should not take weeks of "messing about" the FSA require that claims are not unreasonably delayed. You may take over from or repair the laptop while the claim is being processed - you have the right to act as though uninsured.)

Provide insurers will all receipts (including the one when you first purchased the laptop.

I Have A Household Insurance Policy With The Post Office.?

We were having some edifice work done and in the process discovered that our drain run did not comply with building regs.
I phoned our Insurance Business to ask if we were covered.
They did not reply but after a week sent us a claim form.
We told them that we were only enquiring and did not call for the form but they have informed us that this is a claim and now on our records
We are now unable to change our insurance company for five years without divulging the claim which does not continue.. What kind of scam is this!!??

So if they had covered the drains you see this as a claim? But because you made a claim for the drains and told not covered you do not see it is a claim. If the claim was with limn and nothing was paid out then any insurance company would look at your record. However have you any other claims as it would not be feasible to say you can not go else where unless you have a awful claims history
