Whats The Best Way To Handle Home Insurance Claim Adjusters During Damage Estimate Of My House? |
Aug 28, 2008 by ReggieT | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Late-model tornado winds and heavy rains have damaged my shingles and caused pee to leak through to one bedroom ceiling!
I've heard much about how they do their best to keep from paying you for damage! I objective want to know my rights. Farmers Insurance is my coverage. Thanks
Having once worked as an adjuster specializing in corpulent construction property losses, (while also handling some homeowners claims) I would humbly intimate all may not be as it seems.
Certainly, the large insurance company vs the individual homeowner does not seem like a average match but the individual that comes to your home and makes recommendations is not the sum total of that unconfined company's experience. He may have seen a lot of damage before or he may be just out of property damage estimating kindergarten.
Primarily, he is the eyes and ears of the company. If he is a little better he will be a capable proprietor that can handle the claim. (Gathering evidence and opinions to support recommendations, I again hired or consulted a large group of experts including photographers, contractors, engineers, lawyers, and other investigators.) A bow out above that is someone who may be particularly perceptive at sorting out misrepresentation and understanding policies and legal requirements. His paramount quality is the ability to marshal all of the above in particularly difficult settlement negotiations. Fortune adjusters are sometimes more trained and therefore stay as adjusters longer than associates handling workman's compensation or auto claims.
The adjuster makes recommendations and has restricted settlement authorization. If the claim is above the smallest of losses he will have to be making a report and his recommendations will have to be approved. He does not in the main get points for the number of minimum settlements. (Those bean counters are further up the ladder.) He will "get points" for the swarm of settlements based upon sound recommendations. Settling claims at a minimal but fair amount is a factor that is balanced by needing to process and dispose of the number of claims first-class. More recently, I have had occasion to be on the other side of a claims issue, one of my first questions to the adjuster was how many claims is he currently handling. And so my negotiations began along with the colloquy of the scope of the damage.
You make his job easier by presenting the claim in a way that is easy to understand without a lot of heartache. He cannot offset you for the trouble the damage has caused you only the damage itself. His job is not even to repair the damage. He is only there to compensate for the bill and not personally take responsibility for doing any repair. (Although repairs not done can incur tomorrow penalties and most policies will require you to mitigate damages (make initial repairs to forbid further damage.) After initial visits, reminding him of the claim without being annoying will help to move the claim toward settling.
You want to avoid disputes. I usually feel that it is better to state your inclination clearly instead of hoping the adjuster will not take a position against you and then you have to try and change his mind. If you hold water something back and then have to bring it up later it will just look suspicious. Avoid it. To that end, I would suggest you get the demanded estimates. More than one. If asked, present them. If not, at least, make sure all the elements of the damage are viewed by the adjuster and you are only awaiting a assess tag on each. If you have a claim that includes peripheral damage (foundations, underlying structure...) or odd damage (historical landmark) you may need an expert's report (contractor's or engine- driver's ect...) to support the claim. If you have a contractor and the adjuster will negotiate with him about the damage let the experts higgle.
The company does have one thing on its side. Misrepresentation of a claim is a crime. The companies can sometimes be a little progressive, but they are not entirely stupid and not particularly forgiving. Present your claim. Don't go overboard in your demands and if you see out well take your money and very quietly walk away.

Question For Claim Adjusters And Insurance Agents? |
Feb 21, 2007 by fighting saints | Posted in Insurance
I am looking for any adjusters or agents who can assert me if a plumbing fixture company has a liability insurance carrier.
We have a product defect claim against Jameco Supranational based in NJ. They are not cooperative at all. So I am looking ANY information about them from insurance professionals who have dealt with them. I'm looking mostly for the insurance drayman info, but will take any info regarding how any claims were settled with them. Also, would like to know if adjusters have had files where they had to sue Jameco and if so what state of affairs was the suit filed in.
Thank you for any help that you can provide it is much appreciated.
The only way to find out who their insurance enterprise is would be to either ask them or file suit against them.
There is no magic list out there that tells who is insured with what company.
Bumf on past claims that have been settled with them is confidential so I don't know of any adjusters that are going to give you that information.

What do u have to do to become a insurance claim adjuster in california
No commission is required per se. The best way to start is to get hired by a car insurance company, various types of cultivation and experience are helpful. Some folks start with a college degree, some come from the automotive earnestness. I know not many companies are hiring right now, but it couldn't hurt.

How Do You Find And Buy Insurance Companies Claim Return Merchandise ? |
Sep 08, 2008 by carmetjoe | Posted in Insurance
I am a consumer interested in getting access to claims merchandise that have been returned to insurance companies that are to be sold off, are surplusage, damaged, refurbished etc. Does anyone know how to go about getting on auction lists, bid lists, or how to be alerted of claims of retail being sold. Any advice on how the insurance claim adjusters handle these returns would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your then!
You go promptly to the insurance companies, and tell them you want to bid on lots.
But be prepared, you can't pick and choose! You get IT ALL, like it or not, and you'll have to knock off of the "junk" that you can't resell.
You'll also likely need a performance and payment ties, so be sure you're bondable. That's so you don't get called to buy a lot, and then back out.

May 22, 2008 by ghetto_kartel | Posted in Insurance
I had a stay today from the loss adjuster who is handeling my insurance claim. The meeting went well and he seemed very understanding.
What is a wastage adjusters role in an insurance claim? Is the loss adjuster the person who decides on weather or not a claim should be paied and if so the ammount to be paied out?
Thanks
No addle-headed answers from ray thanks
That's strictly what an insurance adjuster does.
We investigate the claim - determine what coverage applies - write the appraise for damage and if appropriate - pay you.

Insurance Claim? Loss Adjusters? |
Sep 02, 2008 by Ben W | Posted in Insurance
I recently made an insurance claim for £8000 for jewelry that was stolen from me during a concourse robbery.
Its over 4 months since i made the claim and am being told that the loss adjusters are still making investigations. Is there any time limit, set by law, in which the insurers are presumed to give me a decision of my claim or can this kind of thing drag on for years?
Thanks for your help.
hi,
no there is no even so limit in which the claim has to be settled. the loss adjusters are probably looking into it as it is a very high value claim and they have to get valuations etc. for the ornaments and get the insurance company to OK the costs.
if you are not happy with the length of time it is taking, keep chasing. if nothing happens presently then make a complaint to them. i know it can take a long time, but they will have their reasons as to why it is taking so great.

What To Expect From An Insurance Claim? Any Insurance Adjusters Out There???? |
Sep 02, 2008 by skobie | Posted in Insurance
My hot tub was damaged over the winter. I didn't conscious because I just now filled it and I don't use it in the summer... I called the insurance company and they're going to have an adjuster call me...
I've never filed a claim before, so what should I trust? I bought the HT used, so I'm wondering if they'll still cover replacement costs..
If you are an adjuster, what should I do or how should I treat this??
thanks in advance.. I'm really clueless to this..
How was it damaged? Where is it? How it's covered, depends on if it's alfresco property, or indoor property, and what exactly happened to it. '
If it's outdoor property, and it's damaged because of weaken you left in it, freezing & expanding, it's not covered.
You didn't give enough info, so no one here will be able to determine you. The adjuster should, though.
