Spinal Manipulation Under Anesthesia Billing Nightmare. Insurance Is Denying Claim And Bill Is $21,000? |
Question by ski | Posted in Dental
I did a prescreening at the facility one week before the procedure. Insurance information as well as vitals were taken. Now after endless billing, it seems the insurance is denying the claim. Shouldn't the clinic have checked coverage before accepting me. I don't plan to pay a dime. Billing should have been finalized by now(a year later), and coverage should have been checked beforehand. So what the heck can I think now or how should this be handled? What happens if I just don't pay...bad credit??

How Would You Go About Proccessing Insurance Claims Or Medical Billing From Home? |
Question by c k | Posted in Insurance
Where would I go to find a job processing claims? Medical billing or other
Answer: At qualified in professions is a home study course that will give you a certificate in medical billing after you pass their conduct. This is long distance learning set up. After 'graduating' you will have to market yourself to local doctors and excuse why they need to switch from their current billing service to you - with no background in this field, who will work from current in and possibly, unintentionaly, create billing errors and lose them hundreds if not thousands of dollars because no one is auditing your claims while you learn how to bill in the genuine world.
You will also need to purchase a medical billing software to keep track of claims and filch sure you have no timely filing issues, electronic transmission software or come down with with a clearinghouse, as well as current and possiblly 1 year past issues of the ICD9, ICD10, HCPCS, CPT and I suggest a specialist book in the area you will be billing. Subscribe to a newsletter to keep up to date with the changes that come to pass ($300/year), high speed internet, unlimited calling, and a very insouciant chair because you will be sitting in it a long time.
Oh, Will you be coding the claims also? Need to get certified for coding and keep up with your CEU's to reside eligible for certification.
I admit, I'm angry that medical billing has been portrayed as a quick lodgings project that you can do in your spare time. This is a real job that requires real knowledge and notice to detail. One wrong code and someones insurance denies their claim leading to thousands of dollars in medical expenses for a unyielding.
My suggestion? Go ahead and take this course if you'd like, get an entry level job at a doctors function or hospital. Learn form people who actually do medical billing then in 5 years, if you have in mind you have what it takes, start your own business and try to work from home. Remember, your dealing with people's livelyhoods (the docs) and lives (patients talent to pay for procedures) this is not something to be taken lightly. |

How To Understand A Bill For Insurance Claim? |
Question by Claud | Posted in Insurance
I don't show compassion for all of the bills I've been receiving. The medical terms are confusing and I don't know what procedures literally have been completed on my child. How can I better understand my hospital bills?
Answer: For outpatient procedures, you should get a detailed bill with brief description of the test, procedure or service performed. It is impressive to note that you will receive a bill for each date of service. So, if you were at the hospital on two different days, you'll clear at least two bills.

Medical Insurance Bill Is Different Than Claim? |
Question by Leli | Posted in Law & Ethics
I'm hoping someone with some acceptable experience can help me. I got sick and had to go to the hosipital. I recieved a bill for about $780. I called and gave them my insurance info and they filed a claim for $1500.00. Is this stable for the hospital to tack on $800 because I have insurance? Would like some advice on what to do next, anything would help.
| Answer: Chiefly a hospital or pharmacy will charge an un ensured patient, AKA a private pay patient, a higher amount for services. It is yet another admonition of how the poor in our country get gouged every day. This is what happens. If you are lucky enough to have a job with health insurance or can pay for your own insurance policy, you pay into a tidy health insurance organization. It is the goal of the health insurance organization to make money (hey it is the American way precisely?). So the health insurance company tells the providers (Hospitals, doctors, pharmacies) they are only growing to pay a certain amount of money for services or they negotiate a lower rate for people that buy into their insurance. It does not exceptionally help out the people that buy into the insurance, it helps the insurance companies because they pay less for a service. People that can not afford insurance have to pay the continuous or higher rate because they are not part of a group that has some bargaining power. So, you having insurance and then getting a higher bill after you gave them your insurance is odd. It is viable they did not have all your services on your first bill. You may want to call the billing department at that hospital and ask for a statement that shows ALL of the charges that mutate up that bill. Compare it to your first bill. You may find your answer right there. As long as you don't have to pay anything, you probably don't have to call an attny. If you suspect insurance swindling, you should contact your insurance company with your suspicions. |

Should I Have To Pay The Full Vet Bill Before I Claim It Back From My Pet Insurance? |
Question by kchick8080 | Posted in Dogs
Our dog was rushed to the vet for an danger op. It came to £240, I filled in a pet insurance claims form and took it to the vet who have to fill out their part. They refused to fill it out and said I have to pay the full amount and then claim it back from the insurance party!....surely this can't be right? What is the point of having insurance if you still have to fork out and get yourself into debt until you can claim it back!? Where do I understudy for....what if I had refused to pay? What would they do? Keep my dog!
Answer: Bestial insurance isn't like people insurance.
Usually, the vet expects payment up front from you, they will fill out the paperwork and you have to claim it from the insurance company.
I over that's the point of them wanting payment up front....they performed a service and do not want to discontinuation to get paid (or unfortunately get screwed by the deadbeats who either don't pay them or take forever to pay).
It was emergency service and they foresee payment up front....that's understandable. But instead of them waiting for money....you'll have to deferred for it. It's worth it in the long run if you get some money back I guess, but it depends on how much you're dishing out a year. |

What Are The Financial Risks For Starting A Medical Insurance Claim Company? Is It A Good Idea? |
Question by guayacan | Posted in Small Business
Will doctors be interested to pay my business to process their insurance companiy bills, so they will get paid more quickly?
Answer: Are you an wizard in medical claims processing?
You understand the process? Have the programs to do this? Know someone you can appoint that has this knowledge? You want to make collection calls? You want to negotiate with insurance companies? You are extraordinarily detail oriented, keep extremely accurate records, and can find those records in a moments notice?
Yes, Doctors use that font of service, and are happy to pay a percentage of the billings for that kind of service.
If you're in the USA, you'll have to abide by all the HIPAA Regulations.
I have a patron who has over 50 employees, that is in this business, and is very successful. But he is extremely knowledgeable, he has key employees who perceive all the ins and outs of the insurance claims processes, he has invested heavily in technology through the years.
It can be a expert business, but you need to have the ability to really take this over completely for the Doctor's. You will be their EXPERT. |
