Car Accident, How To Find Worth Of My Laptop To Claim In Insurance? |
Jul 07, 2008 by juliejuliejulie | Posted in Insurance & Registration
the insurance cast needs to know how much my computer laptop is worth. its a sony vaio pcg-k16. how do i go about getting it etimated. i bought it a few years ago for about 1500 dollars.
Most insurance companies will lack purchase receipt and then they will use a depreciation schedule from there to tell you what they will pay you. You can use e-bay or similar source to back up that the current selling price for a used model is going for more than what they are willing to pay you. Sanguinely they will work it out. Otherwise it may require you to go to the mediation process to try and work it out. Good Luck!

Will This Be Enough For An Insurance Claim On A Laptop? |
May 16, 2007 by august | Posted in Insurance
I got burgled and my sony laptop was captivated. I may have left the window open, although there are signs of forced entry as the open window was unsecrewed so that they could climb in. I contacted my insurer who are sending a injury adjustor round.
The worry I have is that I don't have the full receipt for the laptop - I have a friend who owns an IT company and he buys my pc's for me as I'm clueless. He has his AMEX hold accountable card receipt which names the shop (micro anvika) and the amount, and then I have an invoice from his flock with the details of the laptop. Will this be enough for the loss adjustor - will he want to see a full receipt from the shop? I dont be versed where I have put it and am starting to panic. Also will I be penalised for leaving a window open? I have personals possessions insurance.
it's not familiar for work purposes, i have a desktop for that but my IT friend used to work for my boss. my laptop was on the itemization by the window and my phone was stolen too - the police think it was the local kids who have burgled us before and time past taken a laptop, phone, speakers etc. I think we were targeted but now we have a big electrical gate put up by our apartment lump management so shouldnt happen again. I was upstairs asleep, i dont think thats a misdemeanour in the middle of the night!
Leaving your window contribute is not a problem and the documentation you have sounds good. Take a look at your policy and make sure-fire that you have replacement cost coverage. If you do, they will pay to replace with a computer of like, kind and quality. If you do not have replacement get coverage they will pay for the actual cash value (what it is worth now).

Can I Claim A Broken Laptop Screen On Home Insurance? |
Feb 21, 2009 by LisaMassacre | Posted in Laptops & Notebooks
my boyfriend knocked my mac off the bed and the divide is cracked, like on the inside and the colours run on the right side. Someone said I'd be able to claim this on bailiwick insurance, is this right? the laptops gurantee has run out and i bought it off my friend.
I'm not inevitable about the insurance. But you can sell the laptop online easily and they will recycle it for you. That might help if the insurance doesn't work

Can I Claim A Broken Laptop On My Homeowners Insurance.? |
Nov 16, 2008 by nuttygolfer2005 | Posted in Insurance
I recently dropped my laptop and damaged it euphonious bad. I was wondering if that is something i can claim on homeowners insurance?
No, under the exemplar HO-3 contract that most people have your computer is not covered for accidental breakage.
However, you might have coverage (subject to a deductible) if you purchased the more up-market HO-5 form (very few people opt for that form due to the higher cost).
The other possibility is if you scheduled your computer, all companies bid a special endorsement to cover personal computers. If you purchased that coverage the computer could be covered for breakage.
Only way to be solid is to call your agent.

Insurance Claim For Laptop? |
Mar 01, 2008 by Elsie.1912 | Posted in Law & Ethics
I dropped my laptop in August, and the cover was damaged. As it would cost over £200 to repair i claimed for a new one off home insurance. I had to buy myself another one in the process as i use it a lot. The pc renovation shop that gave gave me the quote said he would keep the computer till the claim came through.
The insurance had phoned in December and told me they had the wherewithal for me, by leaving a message on my answer phone, which i must have deleted with old ones as i never got it. What with Christmas and everything and then affliction, i only got round to phoning the insurance two days ago. They said yes the money was ready and they would put it into my bank account. That was filamentous and i was pleased
When i went to the shop this morning to ask for the laptop back, he said he only keeps them for three months and then disposes of them. He said he has stated it to a recycling place where they dismantle them and use any good parts. (carried up underneath)
I told him that my hard disk was in it and that all my personal and banking details were stored on it. He said there was not much he could do.
I never signed anything to say he could do this. I also told him it would have been the mannerly thing to do to phone me first , as there was nothing he gave me to tell me this was there rules.
Where do i stand? I didn't crave to start arguing with him till i knew my rights
Support worker...thanks.
He did give me a refer to for the repair, but this was just for insurance purposes, as he said it wouldn't be worth repairing it, and charged me £17.50 for the privilage. But i never signed anything saying that i agreed for it to be ready of.
i'm going to take my friends husband with me....he is one of those blokes who knows what he's talking about and who doesn't let anyone talk him down. i have to deferred a till next week tho as he works in Derby and wont be home till then.
Wacky....it's my details im disquieted about. im going to get in touch with the bank on monday and get everything changed. but they've already had my laptop for three months already.
Median dave....that vision did enter my mind. im going to put word out now to boycott his shop
Hi elsie, your in a bit of a pickle with this one but luckily all is not misplaced.
I have just spoken to my nephew (who is in his 2nd year uni for law and will soon be qualifying as a solicitor).
In the first occurrence, the guy should have given you a written estimate or quote and agreed an itemised invoice of toil to carry out.
If he had checked the computer he should have written to tell you what is required for the repairs to be completed.
When you Heraldry sinister the computer with him he should have given you written instructions about ANY time limits regarding holding your computer.
He does NOT have the rightist to dispose of your computer without consulting you and you giving written agreement.
Also, even if he had given you warnings that he only keeps the computer for so fancy, he should still have acted properly and completely wiped off the contents of the computer. DONT believe him if he said he did okay. He should also have "saved to disc" your info for you.
I distrust VERY much that he has GIVEN the computer to a recycle firm. He has either sold it on or has stripped it for his own parts stock.
This is nothing interrupt of theft and fraudulent posession of your property.
Go to your local trading standards obligation and give them all of your information.
If your hard drive holds your personal banking details you MUST (you have very likely already done it) inform the bank so that your accounts are immediately cancelled and your numbers changed.
Forgive to this scammer (i dont want to swear) and inform that you are taking legal deportment, also tell him that any discrepancies or losses from your bank since the time he had the computer AND until it is resolved he will be personally held stable for and the use of those details will result in criminal prosecution for fraud.
DO NOT be afraid to challenge this okay and turn sure that you have a witness if you speak to him and demand everything is put in writing.
God bless & good fate honey.

Hi I Purchased A Laptop Insurance For A 1350$ Laptop, Dropped A Coke On It? |
Feb 01, 2009 by William C | Posted in Laptops & Notebooks
i call to mind a consider is irrepairable and my insurance claims to cover all accidents, will they give me money? and what if i cant proof it was an accident.
Yes they will give you the well-to-do. My friends dropped chocolate milk on his Macbook Pro and he has insurance for it. They sent him a new Macbook Pro. Also, blunder insurance doesn't necessarily mean you do it on accident. If you want a new PC bad you can just drop it on "blunder" and depending on your PC insurance you should be able to get a new one. I hope this helps!

Stolen Laptop :'( Can I Claim On House Insurance? |
Oct 16, 2008 by Sam | Posted in Insurance
first spell ive ever left my laptop in a vehicle and it has to be my girlfriends brand new mini. she went to manchester adn whilst she was enjoying a manufacture show at harvey nics, some theiving manchester scumbag was smashing her car up and nicking my laptop.
unfortunately i didnt get it insured and the car insurance say anything that isnt plant fitted isnt insured.
i live at my girlfriends mum with my gf and her mum is very kindly finding out if she could possibly claim on the family insurance.
i know every policy will be different but what is the chance of me being able to claim? anybody know anything about this?
thanks,sam
Regretful, you are going to be out of luck - at least you would be in the US. Here's why.
Homeowners covers the named insured and resident relatives. You are not allied by blood or marriage to the homeowner, so even if their policy covers for theft off-premises (away from the gratis) it won't cover you because you are not an insured under the policy.
If you want coverage for your stuff while you live with your girlfriend and/or her parents you have to have a fall Renter's Insurance policy (whether you actually pay rent or not).
And to correct a previous answerer, many homeowners policies do incorporate off-premises theft - it depends on the company. Still, many people here in the US take out a separate Personal Articles floater on their laptops. It gives much broader coverage than you would get under a homeowners or r enters.
All that said, things COULD be rare in the UK. There's certainly nothing wrong with your girlfriend's mum checking with her insurance agent.
