Water Damage Insurance Claim Payouts?

Can ayone discern me how much the uk insurance companies paid out to their policy holders for water damage to their property in 2005 or 2006. This will have reference to to damaged caused by taps left on, faulty plumbing, burst pipes etc. NOT RIVERS BURSTING THEIR BANKS ETC.

I would also like if achievable to find out what percentage of people have experienced such damage in the last five years. Also the average cost to put the damage right.. and the supreme payout for such damage on any one claim. Thanks bill saint

Indubitably not. For the most part, that's proprietary information, and although it might be shared with other insurance companies, the exact numbers are not present to be "public record" as broken down by claims.

Your best bet is to talk to your own envoy, see what YOUR insurance company paid out, and assume it's industry average for your area.

Maximum payout is flourishing to be limited by each policy - that's an IMPOSSIBLE number.

Do Ontarians Have Rights When It Comes To Water Damage Insurance Claims?

We have a lot of water damage from a washing implement that rotted out and leaked. We are being told that we have to pick our new tiles from the samples given to us by the insurance adjuster's contractor, but we do not like anything he has. Are we made to go with his contractor. Also, we think the contractor is ripping off the insurance company, because he's charging a fortune for doing very doll-sized. Do we have rights as a person stating a claim in Ontario?

You are under no charge to use that contractor. While the insurer has the right to refuse certain contractors if they have had bad experiences with them in the whilom, the insurer cannot force you to use someone you do not want. At this point the best thing to do is figure out which contractor you liking to use, and then contact the adjuster handling your claim and inform them of the change. Keep in mind an insurer may be docile to offer guarantees on the work done by their preferred contractors, so if you decide to switch keep in brain you may lose this benefit. If the insurer gives you any grief ask them to point out where in the policy wordings it states that you have to use their contractor/set right facility (trust me, it's not in there).

Water Damage Insurance Claim ? ?

Unfortunately after being gone from dwelling for two days I came home to water damage. The water damage was so bad that the floors had to be taken up and we had to be placed in a motel for a prove inadequate time while repairs are made.I guess my questions are these what can I expect with the adjuster (he put us up in a motel exceptionally without me asking which has been a godsend since the damage was bad) are the contents that were damaged like odds and ends covered by the water damage claim as well ? Bread runs tight around my house so the added stay in the motel is nice but now I can't cook every continually so its going to be almost a wk of dining out .I've never made a claim and then to have this its so overwhelming that I don't know if I'm asking the right questions or am I missing something ?

You have n't said what caused the wanter damage, but since the adjustor authorized paying a motel bill then it's undoubtedly he's decided that the loss is covered. The motel bill is being paid under the "Loss of Use" foodstuffs of your policy, which covers for things like hotel and dining out (with provisions) for as protracted as your home is uninhabitable, subject to your policy provisions and terms.

If you have contents coverage on your strategy then it's likely your odds and ends will be covered, but that depends on the cause of loss. The construction itself has broader coverage than your stuff, so it is possible that your contents will not be covered. Make a roll of everything damaged so you can go over it with your adjustor, and he will tell you whether or not your coverage will apply for them.

Your local agent, if you have one, can also be a vast source of information and support at claim time. He or she can help you through the process and intercede with the adjustor on your behalf if warranted. He or she won't be competent to specifically tell you if something from your claim is covered or not, as they cannot do that with an open claim. But they will be able to answer general questions and bamboozle start off you in the right direction.

Claims are never fun. I hope things go smoothly for you and your family!

Home Insurance Claim - Water Damage From Flat Upstairs?

basically, made an insurance claim on damaged goods due to let something from flat upstairs - water leaking down from the ceiling.
Claim went through ok, however will have to pay excess and now the premium has gone up.
Spoke to insurance group, and they say that because the leak was a disconnected waste water pipe, as opposed to the residents leaving taps on, it is not remissness on their part, and therefore they are not responsible.
Not quite sure how i stand, since, as i say, my premium has gone up and i have to pay the excess - to be sure this is incorrect.
or is it?
any advice most welcome
cheers

If it was not failing by the person upstairs, then it was negligence by the owner of the building, so it is the insurance of the owner of the building who needs to pay for this.

Ask your insurance company about THAT theory.

They desperate straits to recoup their expenses one way or another, either by finding the correct insurnace company to pay for your damage, or increasing your premiums.

Sounds to me like the apostolic staff at your insurance company either do not know their own business, or their elevators do not go all the way to the flat upstairs.

I would ask the in the flesh who sold you the insurance policy which it is
* hiring clerks to process claims who do not understand the matter, or
* hiring clerks who lack intelligence

because you not only need to know which it is, you need to be ineluctable that neither kind of clerk processes any future business you have with them

Can You Get Homeowners Insurance On A House That Had Water Damage Claim?

We endure in California and have some long term (it may have just happened but we just now found it) water damage to our bathroom that we lust after to file a claim We have heard that if you file a claim that it will make it difficult if not impossible for future buyers to win insurance for your home...thus making it less desirable or much more difficult to sell.

We feel like this is why we have insurance. Should we fix the problems by ourselves or would you put a claim? Any suggestions from insurance brokers would be fantastic.

Helper yourself) You can easily check how your quotes will change after claim in internet, for example here - home.bebto.com

HOA Help --- Water Damage --- Insurance Claim.?

I own a downstairs condo in phoenix, but get along in California. I rent out the condo.

last friday, the washing machine in the upstairs condo overflowed and flooded my condo and hit four others. A lady at HOA signed to have the put work started (drying out.)

I filed a claim with my insuance. BUT!!

HOA told me on Tuesday I didn't want to file a claim, they would take care of it. Yet, the owner upstars has no insurance.

So, today HOA tells me they will pay for everything to get repaird but not put in a new carpet or flooring.. They would also not bury any rental loss fees..

Does this mean I have to file a claim for the items HOA is not covering? I tone like I will end up having two things fix the condo, HOA and then the insuance company.

How can the HOA pick and elect what they will fix? I AM getting in writing what they will fix..

I don't know why the lady at the HOA told me I didn't have to file an insuance claim when she knew the HOA wouldn't take into account everything.

You will pay the HOA back in increased dues. That's where they get their well off, and as the cost for the HOA goes up, so do your dues.

No one knows why the HOA representative told you they would cover everything. You will have to ask her why.

The HOA by laws demand what they can repair and what they can't. Of course to change the by laws, all they need to do is have a meeting and vote on the modify.

What Can I Provide For A Rental Insurance Claim For Water Damage?

I do not have receipts and I do not have video but I do have pictures of the items (from numerous things). Can I use this for my claim? I had pipes freeze and burst and the items were damaged but I threw them out because they were so offensive. I didn't think to file a claim til my landlord mentioned it but the items were already picked up by my crap company. Any suggestions?
The rental insurance is in my name. My landlord's insurance is paying for the pipes, plumbing, and heating repairs. My individual property in the storage shed was ruined.

Do you have a lessee's insurance policy (renters) in your name? Or is this the landlord's policy?

If youhave renter's insurance in your name this should be handled . I sham the landlord has proof the pipe was repaired. The claims adjuster would have liked to see the damaged items, but as big as the number & type of items appears reasonable they will process the claim looking at your photos for innuendo. Good Luck!!

Tax Deduction Question? Can You Claim Water Damages That Insurance Company Didn't Pay As Loss On Income Tax?

I had water damage on the ceiling in my Nautical galley, according to the insurance company's estimate, the damages would cost about 850.00 to repair...my deductible was 1,000. Can I claim the 850.00 that I have to pay for repairs as a Tax Conclusion/Loss on my income tax?

If your water damage was a "startling event" and not the result of a slow leak, the damage could be claimed as a loss. However, the IRS has added a few rules. First you deduct $100 from the loss, your's is now $750. Then you subtract 10% of your adjusted gross gains. If you made more than $7500 , then you would not be able to deduct any of the loss. There is no $1000 limit for casualty losses.

Modular Home Dealer. Had A Water Damage And Insurance Claim Before I Even Signed The Note.?

I financed a old folks', with a Modular home dealer, in the process of finishing the home the dealer's finisher replaced a leaking water valve. overnight the valve blew off flooding the whole billet.
next the dealer had a restoration company out drying floors and tearing out tile (vct) after the dry out they wer told to replaced the under belly with all new insulation and hard-nosed board. they did there job. then the dealer sends out there tile man, Now i get informed that all this is being claimed in my name with the insurance company, Now all the checks came to me and in and the finace suite name. The money that came in was way over the cost of the repair. The restoration company had gave me a replica of the bill I was told to sign these checks and send them on to the finace company, or else they would try and take my land and forclose on me. Now this is all way before I had even signed the Note .
how do I find out where the excess of the Money went.
It defently was not applied to my Morgage

If you hadn't yet signed the note on the living quarters, then you legally didn't own it yet.

Your insurer should never have been asked to pay for the repairs, but the home constructor should have been required to lift a claim against their own insurer.

What you describe leads me to believe that the builder was 'self-insured' for these kinds of losses and didn't want to pay the repairs out of their own receptacle but rather try to stick your insurer with it.

You should call you insurer immediately and make certain they know you did not own the congress at the time of the damage. They'll demand their money back or sue the builder directly for subrogation.

The checks were for more than the reported claim estimate because they are likely paying for more repairs that haven't been done yet. An insurer is not going to overpay for repairs.

Insurance Claims For Water Damage.?

Brown stains in ceiling dome highlight reveal turned out to be water flowing from above apartment's bathroom.Water flowed through wiring and into light then one day suddely 4 buckets flowed down damaging lights, and disconcert. The builder accepted to repair waterproofing on his warranty using grout but refuses to succeed light fitting and damage to floor stating he was not informed immediately. The srata presence not knwing it was from above floor took a week to trace the source of leak.My insurance corporation says since water leak was from above my insurance cannot be claimed. The above occupant says since waterproofing was the builders charge he would not pay..The damage expenses amounts to $400 and not worth a court challenge.

You are contemporary to spend way more than $400 worth of you time trying to collect this. All those parties be informed that so they assume by denying responsibility you will just go away. If you care about principal take them to court but if you feel interest about you pocket book and sanity just let it go.

Southern New Jersey storm damage figures depend on the counter

Davy Jones's locker CITY — The numbers are thrown around after each storm hits the shore: X million significance of damage here, X million worth of damage there.

But what do those numbers mean — and where do they come from?

Sometimes, in the wake of titanic storm systems such as the “Veterans Day Storm” that battered the court from Nov. 11-15, initial estimates can be misleading — as in the case of Ocean New Zealand urban area.
